PVM hosted the Global Special Operations Forces (GSOF) Foundation leadership team at the St. Petersburg Maritime and Defense Hub on Friday, March 24. PVM, a partner to public sector teams focused on helping unlock data for good, held the event to foster relationships between the SOF community and the hub.
“PVM is thrilled to be able to introduce the GSOF team to the hub facility and our neighboring companies. As a group, hub members have an incredible opportunity to come together to help the SOF community accomplish its missions,” PVM founder and CEO Pat Mack said. “We hope this is just the start of our relationship and look forward to the possibilities that lie ahead.”
At the event, PVM partnered with other Hub tenants, including Pole Star, Saildrone and others, to give GSOF leadership an overview of the hub, introduce Hub members, and demonstrate the Hub’s capabilities to help SOF teams solve mission-critical problems. Additionally, GSOF members toured the hub, including one of the hub’s Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).
PVM is a founding member of the hub, which brings together businesses in St. Petersburg to on marine science, life science, data & tech, entrepreneurship, art, and education. In the hub’s first year alone, multiple tenants, for example PVM and Pole Star, have partnered to help public sector teams achieve their missions.
“The Hub is an initiative of the innovation district, [which] is combining physical assets, networking assets and economic assets to create an innovation ecosystem,” said Hub community manager Lauren Bell. “In an initiative that the city did to bounce back from the 2008 recession, they identified economic pillars in the area that already existed. The whole point was to try to capitalize on what was already here. And so, Pinellas County identified defense as one of their core capabilities, and St. Pete is maritime tech and entrepreneurship. The Hub is a unique building in that we make our tenants participate.”
