PVM Grows Footprint in St. Petersburg, Florida

PVM Grows Footprint in St. Petersburg, Florida

(St. Petersburg, FL – November 15, 2021) PVM Inc., a software engineering services company, announced that the company will be moving its main office to the new Maritime and Defense Technology Hub, located in the St. Petersburg Innovation District. This move will make PVM the largest black-owned tech company in the city.

Pat V. Mack, founder, and CEO is excited about the move. “St. Pete is my home and I’m excited to bring PVM back to a place that was so formative in my life,” he said.

“The Maritime and Defense Hub is part of an initiative with the City of St. Pete to foster collaboration among the different business verticals of science, technology, and government,” said Alison Barlow. “We’re excited PVM is coming on board as a new tenant in this space.”

The Maritime and Defense Hub is due to officially open early in 2022. Its office spaces are set up to specifically encourage dialogue and ideas between different companies in the building. Not only does PVM see growth potential at the Hub, but the tenant requirements were a driving factor behind the decision. A commitment to community, and specifically youth development, are part of PVM’s mission and also requirements for Hub tenants. As a member of the Hub, PVM will:

  • Be active in the Innovation District/Community (e.g., participate in tech exchange events)
  • Be willing to host internship and mentorship opportunities
  • Be engaged in the St. Petersburg community

“We’re excited for this opportunity to work with the community and offer young people possibilities in tech that were not always available to me at that age,” Pat said. “More importantly, the social barriers to opportunity for Black men like me have decreased since my childhood here in St. Pete. My experience of personal progress is reflected in the town itself. It’s a place where I can lift up other tech nerds like me.”

Pat Mack’s personal history in St. Petersburg is lifelong. He attended school in the city up until his freshman year, when he moved to Miami, FL. Upon graduating, he promptly joined the U.S. Navy. After serving over 20 years of active duty, he returned, a changed man, to a changed hometown.

PVM was founded in 2010 and has a long history of work within the federal government, state governments, and organizations in the private sector. Earlier this year, PVM received an Excellence in Information Technology Award from the CDC. They also leverage deep partnerships with industry-leading companies such as Palantir, Microfocus, most recently, AWS GovCloud.

As the company continues to expand nationally and internationally, they intend to dedicate just as much focus on the importance of putting down local roots, as well. “St. Petersburg is a part of who I am. It made me,” Pat explains. “We’re going to turn around and be a part of shaping it right back.”
